The Help.
November 12, 2013 in Montana, there lived three young people. It was a nice warm breezy day with birds chirping and fish flying out of the water shimmering in the sun reflecting off shiny colors. The day was so clear that you could hardly miss a piece of dust flying by under your nose. Off in the distance you can see fishermen waiting for the moment when they catch a fish in a big pond with smart fish. It was a beautiful day.
Ricki is a tall 16-year-old girl who has straight, long blonde hair with intelligence like no other. She also is smart, nice, funny and caring. Rikki lives in a nice house made of wood, somewhat like a glamorous cabin with 1,000 acres of land. Ricki and her family own a Polaris and two quad bikes for riding around their giants heap of flat land with trails further off down the meadow of hay. Ricki did not know her neighbors which happened to be Alana and Eric. Alana is quite similar to Ricki in terms of appearance. Alana is also tall, lean and has long, wavy light brown hair, she is fifteen years old. She is sweet, funny and kind. Once, Alana helped a little lost dear find its way back to his family by leaving a trail of food leading where the family lived. Alana didn't know who Rikki was but she did know about Eric who lived next to Ricki. Eric is a sixteen year old brave and funny boy who is also tall and has shaggy brown hair. He too lives next to Rikki as well.
The three of them met while Ricki was walking around looking for friends and they decided to help people who are deprived of fishing; because of their location, the three kids became fishing instructors. They all met because Eric noticed Ricki walking around aimlessly and they instantly clicked and became great friends. They felt strongly about helping others so they all went over to Alana's rather large home and planned out what would be a huge hit for themselves and others. They planned to make a company where they can teach people who don't get out fishing a lot how to fish. They thought that it would be a fantastic idea; they also planned to give their money to charity for those in need. The called their company "ARE Fishing" they called it that because each letter is one of the kids first initials of their name. It was a huge hit all over town and they made a lot of money to help people out. They figured out that they helped every single person in the shelter; they were so proud. This business will live on because three brave, intelligent and kind teenagers decided to take a risk and help out. Each stream was different in a beautiful way just like these people are, but in the end all the streams connect just like Rikki, Alanna and Eric did to make something more beautiful.
A few weeks before they met...
"I want to meet new people mom! We just moved here and I know no one." said Ricki
"Well sitting here watching TV and complaining to me is not going to get you any friends, at least make a small effort." Exclaimed Ricki's mother.
Ricki went around the neighborhood in search of friends. Meanwhile Eric was doing homework when he saw Ricki.
Eric said, "Hey, um are you lost or something?"
Ricki replied with, "Well, I'm new here so I am just getting to know this place."
"Well I guess I can show you around. Do you go to the school in town?" Eric said trying not to sound too weird.
" Yes, I do in fact. By any chance do you know any people in town?" Ricki curiously asked.
"Well actually I do! I know a girl named Alana who is super sweet and she even goes to our school."
"By the way, my name is Eric. What about you?"
"I'm Ricki!"
"So where does Alana live?"
"I'll show you. Let's go!"
As Ricki and Eric ran down the street they became closer as friends.
Eric knocked on Alana's door because it would be awkward if some random girl was just there without an explanation.
Alana's mother opened they door with a smile and said, "Oh hey Eric! Alana's in her room." Just as she noticed Ricki she immediately asked Eric who she was in a kind way.
"Well I am Alana's mother and who might you be? She asked Ricki.
" Well I just moved here from England and my name is Ricki. I am going to go to the same school as Eric and your daughter."
"Great! Nice to meet you Ricki. Please, come in, I'll get Alana down here."
Eric and Ricki waited in awkward silence until Alana came down the stairs and tripped. Ricki perceived that Alana was slightly clumsy.
" Ok, that was embarrassing, I am pretty clumsy. Sorry about that!" Said Alana.
"Well this is my new friend Ricki, she lives in the neighborhood and goes to our school." Said Eric.
"Hi. I am Ricki! I am glad that I live near you guys. I was acually searching for people who would be my friends. I can't believe how lucky I am."
"That is great that we all live in the same neighborhood." Alana said.
"It's so hot. Come in my house with the air conditioning and we will have some ice cold lemonade."
Eric and Ricki followed Alana in her house. Ricki was starting to feel more comfortable around her new friends.
" Ok, let's play my favorite game with new friends. The way you play this is we each say what we like to do and something about us." Alana beamed with excitement.
"Since I'm new I'll go first, well I love to help people and animals. Ooooh yes I really love animals! They are so sweet!" Ricki screeched.
"My name is Alana and I also love to help people and animals out. Once I helped a lost baby dear back to her home! Eric your next."
"Alright, I also love helping animals and people out. I am also funny if I do say so my self and I like school."
"Oh shoot! I gotta call my mom. It's really late. See you guys tomorrow at school." Ricki said in a rush.
Ricki darted out of the house even before you could say "Mississppi" and Alana and Eric both gave eachother an um ok? Sort of look. Eric's mother had called Alana's mother to send him back home.
"Well that's my que. See you and Ricki tomorrow at school. Thanks for having us over today. It was super fun."
The next day at school three kids met up with eachother. Eric and Ricki were already standing by the music room waiting for Alana.
"Hey Alana, Ricki and I have been wearing here for you. Where have you been?"
Alana drops all of her books.
"Oh my gosh I am so clumsy! So how have you guys been without me? It must have been really hard! No I'm just kidding." Alana said in a half laughing voice.
" Ok so while you were gone, Ricki and I have been thinking about starting a fishing company!" Eric said excitdley.
"Yes. We have been talking and we all love to help out. So we thought why not? It's a great idea. Oh and we start tomorrow!" Said Ricki.
"Tomorrow?!" Screeched Alana
Ricki and Eric both looked at eachother and they were both thinking the same thing. They thought Alana was going to disapprove the idea.
"Please!?" Ricki and Eric said in unison.
"Ok, ok fine but on one condition." Alana said suspiciously.
"What?" Eric beamed.
"We have to donate all of our profits to charity." Replied Alana.
Ricki said, "We are already one step ahead of you."
Alana looked puzzled.
"Ok are you ready for this?"
"Yes I am ready Ricki! Spill the beans!"
"Ok Eric and I already found a charity organization. All the paperwork is done. Now we just have to make the money for these kids who have disabilities. Who is in?"
"I am!" Alana and Eric's both agreed.
The bell for math rang and they were headed their separate ways. Alana was day dreaming in class about their big plan. Then out of the blue the teacher asks Alana, " What is 12-xy/4.562662xp?"
Alana was speechless. She had no clue what was happening she had been day dreaming about something irrelevant to math. The whole class was just staring at her waiting for an answer. By the looks of it, they weren't getting an answer any time soon.
"Umm well if you do the uhh x times the y you get ummm xyz?" Said Alana hoping for a lucky guess.
"Wrong! Pay attention Alana. You are one of my top students." Said the teacher.
Alana thought about the complement from her teacher about being one of the top students and decided to not let her down. She didn't waste another second thinking about things not related to math.
Saturday morning.
" What should we call our fishing company?" Eric wondered.
"We could call it Good Fishing?" Said Alana too just throw an idea on the plate.
"What about calling it ARE Fishing? It has each of our first name initials combined." Said Ricki.
"Ok I must say that your name idea is pretty awesome." Said Eric.
After all the paperwork.
"We are so lucky!" Said Eric."
"Why?" Said Ricki.
"Get this, so they already have an empty store ready for us on the lake. I handed in our logo designs and they said they would have it ready for us this afternoon! Also the storedoesn't cost us a penny because it is in an area where people live or something like that." Eric said.
"This is great! When is our first lesson?" Questioned Alana.
"It's starts in one hour." Eric said a little bit overwhelmed by the clock.
"One hour? This is crazy. We don't have any boats or fishing rods at all! How do you guys think we are going to get all that expensive equipment?" Ricki said very startled.
"The people who took our paper work are going to provide all the necessities because they think that our store is a great idea!" Eric said sounding pretty happy with himself.
"Ok, first of all that is amazing and second of all, no more heart attack suprises because I almost just fainted." Said Ricki.
One hour later.
"Hi my name is Rodney and I would like too sign my daughter Carrie up for a one hour lesson."
"Yes of course. We will be right with you." Alana said in a business-like voice.
"Hi I am Ricki and I will be taking Carrie on her lesson."
Once they got set up and on the boat they started fishing. Ricki noticed another boat behind her tried to perceive the two figures with a fishing rod dangling off the boat. It was Eric and he had a lesson!
Ricki thought about how much money they could make for charity. All the hope they could bring to families. Her pupil Carrie broke her thoughts.
"I got one Ricki I got one!"
"Ok so all you have to do is spin your reel in a wheel. That rhymes so that should get you to remember it better." Ricki said in a helpful manner.
As Carrie reeled her first catch of the day in Ricki noticed the beautiful colors of the trout. It was an exquisit fish.
"Wow Carrie that is a beautiful fish! Let me take a picture before we let him go back to his family."
Click.
"The way you release the fish is quite simple. All you have to do is gently pull the hook out of it's mouth and put him back into the water. Here I will put this little guy back so you can watch me and you will do the next one you catch. Is that ok with you Carrie?"
"Sound good to me!" Said Carrie
Splash!
The beautiful fish was back where he belonged.
"Goodbye Johnny!" Cried Carrie.
"Who is Johnny?" Questioned Ricki.
"The fish we put back. He had to have a name it seemed right."
Eric and Alana both pulled up on either side of Ricki.
"How's is it going Ricki?" Said Alana.
"Great how about you and Eric?"
"Awesome!" They both agreed.
"Who did you hire to be other instructors?" Asked Ricki.
"We hired like 20 people which we once again don't have to pay for!" Said Eric.
Off in the distance you could see a whole army of instructors and little fisher boys and girls. They all knew they were headed on a great path.
"Well push me off the boat and let the fish eat me! This is great! We have so many little future fishers. We are going to earn so much money for charity, I am so pleased." Ricki said almost teary eyed.
"See you later guys I gotta keep helping Carrie who is a great fisher girl."
"Bye!" Alana and Eric said as they both continued on with her lesson.
Ricki took one look back at all the boats with a sigh of relief then resumed her lesson.
"Is anything biting your bait?"
"Nope. I'm just waiting. Say, Ricki how old are you?"
"I'm sixteen years old. How about you?"
"I'm seven! I just turned seven two months ago. Ooo ooo I just lost my tooth last night and I got two whole dollars from the tooth fairy!"
"Wow, that is very exciting!"
"I caught fish Ricki! I caught one!" Screamed Carrie.
"Ok this is all on you. I am not going to help you at all."
Carrie reeled the fish in and it was a huge rainbow trout. It was about 22 pounds in weight. It was huge.
"Oh my gosh! I caught a huge fish. I am a pretty good fisher girl."
"Yes you are amazing Carrie. Now let me get a picture with the camera your dad gave you of you and that gorgeous fish.
Click.
Carrie took the hook out and put the fish back perfectly just as Ricki had done. Ricki felt that she had done her job.
"It's time to head back to your dad."
"Awwwww! Will I get to see you again Ricki?"
"Yes, of course but you might not have me as your instructor but I will try my best to make that work."
They got back to the store where they found a Carrie's dad waiting for them.
"Daddy! I had a great time! Ricki is the best. She tought me how to catch a fish and put it back in."
"Thank you Ricki so much for teaching Carrie how to fish. She has been wanting to for a while, I mean that's just great. I didn't expect you to teach her how to do it all by herself. Let me give you a little extra for that."
"Thank you so much we really appreciate it. All of the money we earn goes to a charity for children with disabilities. By the way, Carrie is a natural, she caught two beautiful trout."
"Can we go now dad? I'm bored!"
"What do you say to Ricki?"
"Thank you Ricki for teaching me how to fish. I had so much fun."
"Alright then, we are off. Thanks again Ricki. See you later."
"Woohwee. That was tiring." Ricki panted.
Right as she flopped down on the couch another customer came with her child and Ricki was up and running again.
"Hi I am Ricki I will be your instructor today."
When the store is closed.
"Let's all have a sleepover. I am so tired." Suggested Alana.
"I agree." Ricki and Eric said.
When they got to Alana's house.
"Guys, I think that we are going to make a lot of money on our fishing company. Oh shoot, we have a math final exam tomorrow." Alana remembered.
"Oh my gosh you are right. I agreed with my parents that if did the whole fishing thing, I would get really good grades but now I am scared." Eric said in a worried voice tone.
"Let's study guys I don't know what to do nor do I know anything what this is on. Look a the time it is 11:37pm. We need to go to bed because we need fresh brains for our test tomorrow." Ricki said thoughtfully.
The day of their final exam...
The teacher said in a grumpy voice, "Ok class, I hope that you all studied because whooo, this test ain't easy. That is all I will say. Any questions before I pass out the exams?"
Eric's hand shot up faster than anyone had ever seen, even faster than the dorkiest kids in school in math class.
"How much percent is it worth in your grade, and how manypoints and pages?" Eric said seeming over anxious about the test.
"It is worth 23% of your grade and it is 17 pages and 600 points. Well actually 602 to be precise." Said the teacher.
She passed out all of the exams.
" When I say go you may turn your papers over and begin. Go!"
Ricki and Alana gave each other a "good luck" sort of look and they nigh started.
Eric was freaking out, he hardly new anything. He was going to fail this test, he was almost positive. Every time Eric heard one of his classmates pages turn, he felt sick. He was in his last page when the teacher called out,
"15 more minutes everyone. Good job so far."
All Eric was thinking was that he has fifteen more minutes left and he wanted to get done. Fifteen minutes later. Eric had one algebra puzzle to do. He did it just in time. When the bell rang everyone got up and handed the teacher the exams.
"I think that I failed that exam, my mom is gonna kill me. I really wanted to do well but guys I don't think that I can do our company if I fail." Eric said.
"Just wait for the results and we will go from there." Ricki said.
A few days later...
"ERIC, ALANA THE RESULTS ARE POSTED! Come one lets look."
Everyone crowded around the bulletin board and there were some happy cries and some sad cries. Eric closed his eyes and looked. He got a big fat F. Ricki got and -A and Alana got an A.
"Oh my gosh I failed. Well have fun doing your fishing guys." Eric cried out.
"No Eric please. I quit the fishing company!" Screamed Alana.
"Guys come on we can work this out. Eric, Alana?"
They were gone and Ricki was there in the middle of the hall, alone.
The next day.
" Guys, great news! My mom said I can still do the fishing company. I just have to put school first!" Eric said happily
"I'm in then." Alana said.
They all earned a lot of money for the children who have disabilities. All the children's disabilities got cured and they are all living happily ever after!
